Village camps
Village Camps is one of Europe’s most experienced outdoor adventure operators, organizing successful adventure camps since the early 1970s. Today our adventure and activity programmes are more popular than ever, attracting hundreds of campers each year to learn new skills in mountains, rivers and lakes.
Campus
The impressive sports and leisure facilities used by Village Camps are all grouped close to the accommodation or are set in the extensive grounds that surround the campus buildings. There is a large air-conditioned Sports Hall with space for indoor basketball, football and cricket. Outside are brand new grass pitches that have been levelled and re-drained with a mix of real and synthetic grass. This spacious, professionally-designed grass playing area is modelled on the new surface at Wembley Stadium in London. The new playing area remains in great condition even in adverse weather. Village Camps has the use of practice areas for all sports including rugby, field hockey and cricket. Our highly rated Football Camp now enjoys extensive practice areas, adaptable 5 & 7 a-side pitches as well as full size pitches for competitive games.
The superb 25-metre indoor heated swimming pool and the outdoor hard-surface tennis and basketball courts are used as additional facilities for the Village Camps afternoon leisure programmes. Right outside the accommodation block is the popular 'Village Green' where campers can relax, mix and play ball sports. Around the campus are many attractive outdoor areas, including flower gardens, the impressive 'Horse Fountain' and the stunning walled 'Secret Garden', available for camp meetings and the popular weekly BBQ. The Muggles’ Indoor Games Centre has a great choice of state-of-the-art computer games, traditional board games and a host of spectacular options for campers to enjoy.

Junior Adventure Camp
The typical Village Camps day is divided into four main activity periods with two sessions in the morning and two sessions in the afternoon. Campers are assigned to groups according to their choice of programme and then by age and/or skill levels. On weekday mornings all campers join the speciality camp that is chosen in advance.
During the first and second afternoon activity periods, campers in the English Language, Creative Arts, Adventure & Activity and Football programmes join together and choose from a wide selection of activities. In all other programmes - Basketball, Performing Arts, Riding, Golf and Leadership, campers remain in their speciality camp during the first of the two afternoon sessions. Then they join the rest of the camp, choosing their activity from the exciting range available for the remaining session of the afternoon (see below).
The Junior Adventurers Camp days are individually organised just for 7 to 9 year-olds.
All the activities are organised and supervised (at an average ratio of 1:6) by a carefully selected group of dedicated, experienced counsellors who are fun, friendly, caring and there to ensure that every camper has a great time.

Health & Safety at Summer Camp
Who is caring for your children at camp?
An excellent average ratio of 1:6 between counsellors and children on each site ensures effective supervision, great care and strong guidance for all young campers. Counsellors are responsible for direct supervision. When taking into account the management team staff members, facilities staff, nurses and other support adults present on site, the ratio of Village Camps staff members to children can be as generous as 1:4!
Important Safety Measures
During every activity all precautionary safety measures are in place and followed strictly. All Village Camps counsellors are required to have full CPR and First Aid certification. In addition, at all camp sites there are full-time Health Care Specialists looking after campers' health. They are responsible for any first aid, the organisation and distribution of medicines, liaising with local doctors and hospitals as necessary and keeping all records relating to any illness or accident.
Hospitals are always within driving distance. In the rare event of illness or accident, parents are called at the first opportunity and updated with full information on what steps have been taken to help the child.
At every location there is a comprehensive fire drill for all staff and campers.
10 Benefits of Attending Village Camps

8. Continuing Education in the summer
Camp provides opportunities for children to adapt and grow socially, emotionally and academically. Specifically at Village Camps, children are provided with the opportunity to learn and improve language skills. With language instruction in English provided regularly by our certified teachers, children are guaranteed to become more confident communicating in new languages.
7. Be Part of a Team
Village Camps encourages all campers to develop their teamwork skills. While at camp, children come together in a unique way to support and encourage one another. Campers often have to rely on each other to complete activities and this builds a strong bond between everyone in the program.

Children learn some of life’s most important lessons at camp, whether is it how to clear a table in the dining hall, how to be a good friend, a new sport, how to solve a conflict. Children’s self esteem and risk taking abilities will transform while at camp. Campers will take these lessons and confidently bring them into future experiences.
2. Independence & Leadership
While at camp, children naturally become stronger leaders. Campers develop initiative, problem solving and leadership skills on a daily basis, while they are cleaning the dining hall, helping other campers find their belongings, contributing to special events. The child that returns home from a camp experience will be a stronger and more resourceful child.
1. Make True Friends & Develop Social Skills
Any former camper will tell you that their most meaningful friendships came from camp. Camp provides a safe and relaxed environment for true relationships to form naturally. Village Camp draws people together through the structure of the program. Campers come together from different parts of the world and form a supportive community together.
Parents always have many questions to ask themself and the camp operators when thinking about sending their love one abroad. These are the usual questions that parents always ask:
How long should my child come for?
This is a tricky one. It really depends on your child. The questions you should ask yourself when thinking about this are:
- How old are they?
-
Have they been away from home before?
-
What do they want out of camp?
-
Do they have friends or siblings coming with them?
Alternatively please call us. We are very experienced and can usually help you work through the decision so that we make the best decision for your child.
How do I contact my child during their stay?
Campers can call home the evening using our phone in the office.
Of course, if your child brings their own mobile phone you can contact them during their free time. Campers cannot use their phones during meal times or activities.
Please feel free to send them an email to our camp address. We'll hand it to them at the earliest opportunity.
How many English speaking kids are there?
If your child register for an English speaking camp, than rest assure beacaus our staff team speak English and all our activities are run in English. The earlier the week, the fewer English kids there are but many of our children from abroad speak fluent English.
If you are coming from abroad we are sure your child will receive the whole English culture at Village Camps!
What is the ratio of counselors to children?
We endeavor to provide the perfect mix of guardian, friends and teachers to all students, and while we are there to make sure the students are happy, parents can be reassured that nothing comes before student safety. The organizer to student ratio is 1:6, however including all Village Camps staff the ratio falls to 1:3.
Is the health insurance and accidents coverage included?
The camp fees cover basic first aid care provided by our staff. Should your child require special care, medication or hospitalisation and you have not subscribed to the Village Camps accident/illness insurance you will be fully responsible for all the costs incurred. In this case, we will make the following arrangements for any costs to be settled: . For small amounts, or where the care provider is not able to send invoices directly to your own insurance company, we will either deduct the amount from your child’s pocket money, or settle the costs from camp funds and send you an invoice. In either case, the care provider’s invoice will be sent to you should you wish to claim from your own insurance company. . For larger amounts, where direct settlement is necessary, we will supply the care provider with the details of your own insurance policy. If your child is covered by the Village Camps accident/illness insurance, we will make all the necessary arrangements for any costs to be settled by the insurance company.
Will my child be able to do Laundry during their stay?
There will be an opportunity for your child to wash their clothes once a week. There will be a small cost to do laundry per bag. Bags can be shared between dorm members. Our laundry service is not suitable for expensive or delicate clothing.
How do you select your monitor’s staffs?
Our staffs complete a lengthy and thorough application form before being invited to one of our structured, four-hour interviews.
During the interviews, they complete a range of tasks individually and in a team. They also demonstrate their skills at running an activity. Positions are then offered based on a successful interview, clear DBS check and references.
Can my child pick which activities they do?
As we have so many great activities at Village Camps Activity, we want every camper to have the opportunity to try as many different activities as possible. All of the campers will be assigned to an Activity Group at the beginning of each week and will follow a timetable set for their group for the morning sessions.
Each afternoon they will be able to choose which activities they would like to take part in.
What if my child doesn't want to take part in an activity?
Our staff run fun and exciting activities and will encourage all campers to take part. It's great to try something new or do an activity which is out of your comfort zone... you never know, it might become your new hobby!
My child takes regular medication - what happens at camp?
Upon arrival, we will collect your child's medication and Medical Administration Form. Our medical team will be responsible for the safekeeping of your child's medication and ensure they visit the medical centre at the correct times each day to administer their medication.
